At the end of the Decatur Central practice field, there is a large blue sign that reads "Did You Leave It All On The Field Today?"
The Hawks are going to have to answer that question and then give some more this Friday night when they travel to Mooresville for the Indy Sports Nation Feature Game Of The Week.
This Weeks Football Friday Night's Feature Match Up And Games
Decatur Central is coming into the matchup with an overall 1-1 record after an impressive 27-0 win over Perry Meridian, but could easily be undefeated on the season. In week one the Hawks were beating Franklin Central by the score of 19-7 when entering the fourth quarter, but found the missed extra points to be costly when the Flashes drove down the field to score a touchdown with :02 left in regulation. Franklin Central won the game by the score of 20-19.
"Something that I emphasized with the guys on Friday night is that the victory on Friday night (against Perry Meridian), it just didn't magically happen," said first year head coach Justin Dixson. "We prepared well enough to get a victory, we paid attention to details, and limited our mistakes in the game on Friday night. We didn't do that the week before."
The Mooresville Pioneers have taken a similar path. After opening the season with a dissappointing 14-7 loss to Lebanon, the Pioneers came back with a flourish and knocked out Indianapolis Manual by the score of 56-6. Head Coach Mark Bless believes his team may have overlooked their week one opponent, and last week's victory has helped put the team in the proper mindset for battle.

"I felt like against Manual we did come out and played well. But more importantly for us is that we executed very well," said Coach Bless. "And of course this week going into the Decatur Central game, their players know our players, and ours know them, so it's a good relationship and it's a good rival."
Mooresville senior Seth Myrick knows much about the rivalry between the two schools and the great feeling that comes with one-upping your neighbor from down the street. Last year his Pioneers had an impressive showing on both offense and defense, and came up away with the 31-13 victory.

"Every year this is our biggest game, or one of our biggest games," said Myrick. "It's always nice to have bragging rights on 67, and it's always nice to see that."
That's not to say the Pioneers don't expect a tough battle underneath the lights. All throughout the week Coach Bless has emphasized to his team how Decatur Central's new head coach has transformed the Hawks to become a completely different engine then the team that finished 2-8 just a season ago.
"Coach Dixson has brought in a new spirt, a new fire to their program. You can obviously see that in film when you're watching, and they're very impressive. They are led by a good quarterback that runs a very solid option program and a defense that is very aggressive." said Coach Bless.
But of course, you won't hear Coach Dixson take any of the credit for the new winning attitude the Hawks carried all season long.
"My staff does an outstanding job, I'm very blessed to have the staff that I do and obviously our kids. They practice hard and they play hard. We always talk about that we can correct anything as long as our attitudes right and our efforts there. We can correct anything else."
