He was the offensive MVP of Butler's 2008 team, threw for a school record 23 touchdowns, and was considered a mainstay on a Bulldog team hoping to bring respectability to the program.
Then came a violation of team rules, and quarterback Matt Kobli was off the field, suspended indefinitely from the team, which has so far included Butler's first two games.

Looks like the young signal caller has kept his word. Huck accounted for five total touchdowns, four through the air and one on the ground, as Butler ran past Franklin 49-19 at Faught Stadium Saturday afternoon.
"Patience," said Huck as to the keys to his early success. "Its definitely a process."
So far its coming along quickly, since the quarterback debuted against Albion last weekend and threw for a school-record tying five touchdowns and rushed in another. This week he followed it up by hitting 33-of-48 passes for 316 yards and four scores. Another touchdown strike in the third quarter and a five-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter gave Huck his second victory as a starter in the second game.
"Managing the offense," said Franklin College Mike Leonard of the opposing quarterback's key to success. "He ran the ball real well, he made great decisions in the passing game."
Teammates who watched Huck prepare as the backup during summer training camp credit his preparation to his fast start, which includes an 9-to-1 touchdowns-to-interceptions ratio through the air.
"He's in there watching film every day," said receiver Zach Watkins, who caught one of Huck's four touchdowns Saturday. "He knows that we have confidence in him, so we're just proud of him."

With Kobli's status still unknown for the future, Huck will continue to prepare as if he will start Butler's next game Hanover at home next Saturday.
"We want to see consistent preparation each week," said Bulldogs head coach Jeff Voris. "The mistakes we made in week one we're not gonna make in week two, the mistakes we made today we're not gonna make in week three."
