The defending 5A State Champions Center Grove (7-3) knew that the road to repeating their glory in 2009 would be even harder the second time around. Especially when playing an undefeated Columbus East (10-0) squad on the road.
"Well they are 10-0, and ranked number two in the state," said Trojans Head Coach Eric Moore.
"They've proved themselves throughout the year by winning ten games. To win ten games you have to be a great team, and they are. They have a great coaching staff, and some awesome football players. Their athletes get the job done on the field, they are a big play team, they come from behind, they put a bunch of points on you in a hurry, so it's going to be a tough night for the Trojans. We're really going to have to go down south to Columbus with our lunch pale and try to get the job done."

But the Trojans Head Coach has an even harder road to take than even his own players. That's because in order to continue paving Center Grove's route back to Lucas Oil, he must defeat and eliminate his own son, Tyson Moore, from sectionals.
"One of their offensive lineman this week, he's just number 52," said the proud father with a smile on his face. "He'll be my son when the end of the game horn goes off, and then we can love each other again. But right now he's just number 52. He is a good kid, and I'm really proud of what he does there."

Due to Coach Moore's responsibilities as Center Grove Head Coach he hasn't been able to get to see his son play very much. In fact, if it wasn't for the Olympians delayed game due to lightning last Friday night, he wouldn't have seen his son at all during the 2009 season.
"That afternoon I got to go down and watch the second half, and that's the only time I've seen him play," said Moore. "That's been pretty special."
Of course there's been no strain at all during the father-son relationship leading up to this game. The two have talked on a daily basis, and from the sound of it, they seem to be bringing the right attitude into Friday night's match-up.
"I don't really ask too many questions about them, and he's not really questioning me. I mean we're not going to give any information up anyways, and I'm much smarter than he is so I'd be able to trick him," said Coach Moore while laughing with a smile at his joke. "And I don't want that happening."
