TERRE HAUTE - When answering the question about a victory requires a look back in the media guide, its not a good thing.

For the record, Indiana State's last football victory came on October 21, 2006, when the Sycamores defeated Missouri State 28-21. Three more losses came that season, 11 more in 2007, then a coaching change, and 12 more losses in 2008.

26 games is the losing streak, turning head coach Trent Miles into a psychologist as much as a football coach.

"We try to make it fun for them," said Miles about keeping the players upbeat during an intensive rebuilding process. "We're out here to play this game because we love it, football didn't choose you, you chose football."

"We try to remind them every day that we're competitors, and we're gonna go out and fight and compete, and we're gonna fix this."

At the very least, Miles can tell the players to take a look around to find signs of progress. Memorial Stadium, built in 1967, underwent its most extensive renovation since it was opened, as a new field turf playing surface was installed, the press box renovated, and the locker rooms rebuilt.

"We're trying to wash away a mindset and an attitude here, and having construction and opening things new is kind of a breath of fresh air," said Miles of the new stadium renovations.
