With a broad smile across his face, Zionsville Senior Blake Lueders placed the Stanford Cardinal hat on top of his head. Well, sort of.
The adjustable hat was a little too tight for the gigantic noggin of Lueders, and there's hope that his helmet will fit him a little bit better.
Lueders signed with Stanford University Wednesday morning, a choice that the All-American claims to be living a dream.
"I was looking for the school that was the best academic wise, football wise, and with the best people," said Lueders on his choice of Stanford. "I felt like Stanford was the best of the combination of those three for me."
Of course the decision wasn't the most easiest for Lueders to come by, and this signing might be considered the biggest steal for Stanford on Signing Day 2010.
Lueders was set to play at the University of Notre Dame all year long, but once Head Coach Charlie Weis was fired, the 6"5, 250 pound defensive end was unsure about the decision. And it wasn't until January 25th did Lueders decommit to become a Cardinal.
But now that the recruiting process is over with, Lueders has set his sights on becoming the best college football player he can be.
"I'm just training all the time now," said Lueders. "To become bigger, faster, and stronger."
