Brownsburg Hopes For First Sectional Title Since 1985
This could be the last sectional championship Friday as we know it. There has been some talk about changing the IHSAA Football tournament. I'm always of the opinion, don't fix what isn't broken. I personally enjoy the IHSAA Football tournament very much, but then again, I liked single class basketball as well.
Some people would prefer to make the regular season more meaningful and not allow everyone in the post-season. (I don't think this change will EVER happen)
Some would like for the tournament to be seeded, which would prevent match-ups like Class A #1 Lafayette Central Catholic vs. #2 Pioneer in the first round. (I doubt this will happen because it would be to hard to settle on a rankings system and this would lead to future complaints in other sports to seed the tournament as well)
Some would prefer an extra class, meaning six state champions instead of five. While I personally don't feel this is necessary, I can see the powers that be making this move.
Regardless of whether the IHSAA Tournament stays the same or not, we should not concern ourselves too much with future hypothetical. Let us just enjoy what should be a fantastic night of high school football around the state of Indiana.
Once again, I'm picking the winner of EACH remaining tournament game. During the first round, my overall record was 127-30. (81%) During Round Two, I compiled a 63-17 record. (79%) My breakdown by class is as follows: (Sixteen Semi-Final Games In Each Class)
Class 5A 13-3
Class 4A 15-1
Class 3A 14-2
Class 2A 11-5
Class A 10-6
Time to see if I can keep predicting winners at an 80% clip, to accomplish that I'll need to bring home a 32-8 record. During the first week of the post-season I also predicted the sectional champion. If my pick is still alive, I will put that school in bold type. However, I am in one game changing my initial prediction.
